You want to receive training to enable you to become a certified practitioner of Ayurvedic Panchakarma or Yogic Shat Kriya, and you have completed the prerequisite course Ayurvedic Medicine I

You are a graduate of our Yoga Therapy Professional Certification Training Program, and you wish to increase your current hours of training in anticipation of IAYT¹s increased requirements in 2014

You are enrolled in RMIYA¹s 1250-hour Ayurvedic Medicine and Yoga Therapy Certification Program
This comprehensive hands-on training program allows participants to explore marma point body therapies, learn about Ayurvedic seasonal and cleansing diets, and experience each stage of the purva karma and pancha karma/ shat karma processes themselves, in the North-Indian style. Students will learn the indications and contraindications of each pancha karma or shat karma practice, and how to administer these to others. Instruction includes administration of four different types of hands-on Ayurvedic body oleation therapies suitable for spa or clinic. Students will also learn how to prepare medicated oils specific to each patient, and will be required to prepare their own massage oils, vastis, and nasyas, for the class. The training also includes information about methods of rasayana, and how to rejuvenate the body after cleansing. Prerequisite: Ayurvedic Medicine I, or equivalent. (RMIYA Yoga Therapy Program graduates wanting to take this training without having completed Ayurvedic Medicine I in its entirety should contact the RMIYA office)
Courses starred (*) below may be taken separately, if a student has interest in only one aspect of the training. The Marma Chikitsa course has no prerequisites. All others require completion of Ayurvedic Medicine I, or equivalent, as a prerequisite. Students who register for the Body Therapies II weekend should also attend the first two Tuesday evening classes of the full training.
Tuition Fee for the whole 250-hr certification training is $3685 or $3300, if fees received by MARCH 22 or dates given by each separate class below
. A fixed $200 additional materials fee will be charged for any part of the training other than marma chikitsa, to include cost of general oils, herbs, cooking and other supplies used during the classes themselves. Cost of parts of the training which may be taken separately is listed in each course description below.

Tue April 10 7:00-9:30 PM *Methods of Snehan and Swedan (Sarasvati Buhrman, Ph.D.) Indications, contraindications, and general methods of oil applications and therapeutic applications of heat to the body. Fri-Sun APRIL 13( 6-9pm), APRIL 14, 15 (9-6:30) APRIL 20 (6-9pm), 21, 22 (9-6:30) *Ayurvedic Body Therapies II: Garshan, Abhyanga, Udvartina, and Shirodhara Kate Fotopolous, C.M.T. (45 hours/ 2cr) Instruction and practice in the application of garshan and three major methods of Ayurvedic oleation (30 hrs), plus an additional 15 hours of supervised practicum, included in the second weekend. Methods of setting up space, organizing supplies, and incorporating these Ayurvedic practices into both clinical and spa settings. Prerequisite: Ayurvedic Medicine I / basic knowledge of doshas, agni, and herbology. Students should read the first 5 chapters of the text, Encyclopedia of Ayurvedic Massage by Dr John Douillard, prior to the first class meeting, and bring their own sheets for practicing the Massage.

May 12, 13, 14 SAT, SUN MON 9:00-6:30 *Rasayana: The Art of Rejuvenation (30 hrs/2 cr) Bharat Vaidya, B.A.M.S., M.D. Rasayana, or Ayurvedic rejuvenation practices, are done after panchakarma seasonal cleansings, after treatment of disease, after injury, in cases of debility, and to combat aging and foster a long, healthy, productive life. Rejuvenation can be as simple as taking certain life-extending plants or minerals; or it can include regimens of special diets, seclusion, and mantra, meditation, and other yoga practices. The course will explore anti-aging and immuno-stimulant plants and their effects, types of rasayana preprations and important rasayan formulas, lifestyle and diet supportive of rejuvenation, kayakalpa and other seclusion practices. prerequisite: Ayurvedic Medicine I.
